Why

Why you need The Word Scientist:

We all have to write on a daily basis in our professional and personal lives—from lists, to memos, to proposals, to correspondence, and for creative expression. We take for granted this most important method of communication, and we tend to bend it to our whim. This may not be appropriate in all cases for all audiences. Don’t let spelling mistakes and grammar blunders muddy your message or compromise your credibility. And don’t waste your time trying to find them! Let The Word Scientist do it for you!

Sure, most spell-checkers can handle finding mangled words as outlined in your computer’s internal dictionary, and most grammar-checkers will recognize sentence fragments or the occasional dangling participle, but there are certain things that they cannot do. The combined efforts of the spell- and grammar-checkers will not catch that you meant to write “from” instead of “form,” nor will they catch the elusive missing word that your eyes might insert for you because your brain knows what you meant to say. It is debatable that they even know when to properly use “who” or “whom” or that they have the ability to reconcile verb tense throughout your text. And don’t forget compound words and proper punctuation, which can sometimes be up to interpretation.

The discerning eye can find grammar and spelling mistakes as well as inconsistencies, such as in character or place names, and can even help suggest different usage of language to help avoid redundancies or better convey your expert ideas to those less familiar with your content.

Poetic license can also suffer at the hands of grammar. Although it is best to know the rules before you break them, The Word Scientist is dedicated to finding ways to make your work readable to your specific audience—be it general or niche—by thinking outside the vises of traditional rules and applying the candor of creative expression.
